Ronda Rousey says she wants to be WWE Divas champion

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey perked the ears of WWE fans on Tuesday when she hinted that she one day hopes to join the popular pro wrestling promotion.

“I’d love to have the chance to be the Divas world champion,” Rousey said on Tuesday (via Fox Sports), while speaking to media ahead of her Nov. 14 UFC fight against Holly Holm.

“Divas,” of course, are what the WWE (stupidly) calls its women wrestlers. What’s not stupid, though, is Rousey possibly joining the division one day.

Much like former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar did when he re-signed with WWE this year, Rousey’s presence in the squared circle would undoubtedly give the growing WWE women’s division a ratings boost.

Rousey sparked rumors that she was considering a guest stint with WWE earlier this year when she appeared alongside Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania 31. But UFC President Dana White said at the time that her appearance was “one and done.”

The good news for fans is that Rousey isn’t one to let someone else tell her what she can and cannot do, a point she made clear on Tuesday when she said that along with gaining the WWE title, she’d also like to get a chance at becoming the boxing and jiu-jitsu world champions, as well.

“I want to be remembered as one of the greatest fighters of all time at any sport,” she said.
